Welcoming Nigel Cookson: Our new Head of Sales and Distribution
We’re excited to announce the appointment of Nigel Cookson as our new Head of Sales and Distribution. With a remarkable 39-year journey in the insurance industry, Nigel brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record to Acasta.
Nigel’s role is pivotal in helping Acasta expand its network and build on relationships. His background, ranging from junior underwriter roles to senior sales positions, equips him with a unique perspective and a network of industry contacts. His experience, approach, and philosophy align seamlessly with Acasta’s vision, promising a dynamic future for the company.
After his first few weeks here at Acasta, we had the opportunity to sit down with Nigel and understand more about his role, and aspirations for the company. Nigel shared with us that he has already initiated promising developments through his network and is ready to further expand Acasta’s network.
2024 Strategy
Nigel’s strategy for Acasta involves leveraging his strong social media presence, particularly on LinkedIn, and capitalising on his industry connections. Understanding their current offerings and needs is crucial in developing mutually beneficial strategies.
“I am starting to understand who Acasta’s existing partners are, and which relationships I will be managing in the future. I’m looking forward to getting to meet some of Acasta’s partners broaden my horizons and understand their businesses the products they currently offer, and what to offer in the future. Understanding this will help us understand what we can bring to their business and how we can grow together.”
Collaboration is key in Nigel’s role, as he will be working closely with various teams within Acasta, including Marketing and Underwriting. This cross-functional interaction ensures a thorough approach to client onboarding, product development, and compliance adherence.
Diversifying our Product Offerings
With Nigel’s assistance, Acasta is set to diversify its product portfolio.
“We are currently very motor-orientated, but we are very excited to investigate underwriting other products this year and expanding the offerings of Acasta. We are also looking at expanding our home emergency, brown and white warranty, and mobile gadgets over the next 12 months.”
Future Events
Nigel is also gearing up for an exciting year of events. He emphasises the significance of personal interactions in networking and building connections, a philosophy that has served him well over his extensive career. He is keen to get involved with a host of events, such as with the MGAA. He plans to attend most of the events hosted by the MGAA this year. The next event he will be attending will be the MGAA Broker Exchange event on the 5th of March. Then, the MGAA Conference on the 10th of July. The events present a perfect opportunity to enhance our market presence and strengthen relationships with existing partners.

Furthermore, this year will mark Nigel’s attendance at BIBA having now attended more than 20 conferences, underscoring his commitment to staying connected with industry trends and professionals.
“BIBA is a great place to be this year. It’s always very busy, and it’s a great place to network and meet new people and old friends alike.”

What This Means for You
Existing Claims and Complaints:
If you have an ongoing claim or complaint, this will be transferred from Emmiera Group Limited to Castelan Limited. A dedicated specialist team has been appointed to review these cases as quickly as possible. Please allow up to 10 working days for the review process, and you should expect to be contacted by Castelan Limited by 8th May 2025.
If you have not heard from Castelan Limited by this date, please contact the claims transition team directly on 03330 146 314 between the hours of 09:00 and 17:30, Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays).
If the damage to your furniture presents a potential Health and Safety risk, please contact Castelan Limited immediately (during the operating hours above), using the telephone number provided above.
Additionally, if you have previously notified Emmiera Group Limited of any personal circumstances or vulnerability that may impact the handling of your claim or the way in which we communicate with you, please inform Castelan Limited as soon as possible to ensure that the appropriate support and adjustments are in place.
