FIRE Event
Thursday 13th June 2019
On Thursday 13th June 2019 we sponsored Debenhams Ottaway’s popular FIRE event. We co-sponsored the event alongside top London chambers Hardwicke. The evening event was hosted at the British Medical Association in London.
The FIRE events are a series of networking, knowledge share events and communications. Additionally, the events are also designed especially for professionals within the funding, insolvency, restructuring and private equity professions.
As always, the event attracted a keen and enthusiastic crowd of over 60 people. The attendees were interested in hearing the latest themes in the world of commercial litigation and in particular, Funding, Insolvency, Restructuring and Equity.
Alongside the usual networking, guests also enjoyed listening to speakers from the two co-sponsors, Hardwicke, and Acasta. Katrina Mather and Jonathan Titmuss from Hardwicke Chambers gave an excellent update on the most recent developments observed in unfair prejudice claims.
Following on, Tets Ishikawa, a director here at Acasta outlined the impact of Davey vs Money. He also discussed the apparent demise of the Arkin Cap on the ATE insurance and litigation funding industry. Some of the items covered at the event were featured on the Thomson Reuter’s dispute resolution blog published earlier in the month. You can read this blog piece here.
Our relationship with Debenhams Ottaway
In May 2018, Debenhams Ottaway announced that Sparkle Capital, who are administered by Acasta Europe, were on their new litigation funding panel. The panel aimed to open up litigation funding for more claims and simplify the funding process.
Also, we have worked with Debenhams Ottaway to develop schemes for particular types of litigation. Earlier in the year, we announced our new Intellectual Property and Enterprise Court (IPEC) funding product. The product was designed to cater for claims valued from £50,000 to £500,000.
If you’d like to know more about the ATE and funding solutions we can provide both through our portal or on a bespoke basis, please contact us.
